Patient mother's worried pity
I never could appease
Says “just give up on changing things,
You'll get through life with ease.”
“You can't sell grain to carnivores
Despite your constant pleas.”

I'm off to change to world again,
And nothing will escape,
Through sweet sunlight and bitter rain
I'll see it take my shape.

“You always were a blockhead, boy”
My father's half-arsed threats.
My life's no more than one big store
Of yet-untapped regrets,
But whosoever rues the past
It's not he who forgets.

I'm off to change the world again,
You sense the coming storm,
Through sweet sunlight and bitter rain
I'll see it take my form.

And all my friends are doubtful,
And mostly they're afraid,
And all of them insist this world
Is adequately made,
But I've held each one as he cried
And watched each while she prayed.

I'm off to change the world again,
A fine sight to behold,
Through sweet sunlight and bitter rain
I'll see it fill my mould.

I'm off to change the world again,
I'll get it right this time.
The new world needs an image,
A compassionate design,
So I shall make the sacrifice
And give unto it mine.
