Mercury
Mercury shimmers
Reflecting you face
In its shiny surface.
It shakes slightly
In your shaking hand
But doesn't spill.
So you swallow
The spoonful
And grimace.
It tastes cold
Tastes horrible
So it must be good.
A decade on
And there's just
The foolish ones
The ones we pitied
The ones who would
Get sick and die.
So much for common wisdom.
